Suboxone is a medication used to treat opioid addiction. It contains two active ingredients: buprenorphine and naloxone.

Buprenorphine is a partial opioid agonist, meaning it activates opioid receptors in the brain but to a lesser extent than full agonists like heroin or oxycodone. This helps reduce cravings and withdrawal symptoms without producing a high.

Naloxone is an opioid antagonist that blocks the effects of opioids and deters misuse.

Taken as directed, Suboxone helps stabilize patients in recovery, preventing relapse while minimizing the risk of abuse and overdose associated with opioid use.
